"Robin Hood" Teaser

Take "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" minus Kevin Costner and all the lovey dovey stuff. Now takes Disney's "Robin Hood" and remove all the animals. Now pull Maximus out of "Gladiator" and then mix it into a darker, more violent Robin Hood world. Throw them all together and voila! You've got Ridley Scott's latest vision.

No Internet = No Progression

It can't be overstated how important the internet is to our shared obsession with movie marketing. I can't imagine how companies must have felt years ago when their only outlet for trailers were VHS tapes and other movies in theaters. Thanks to the internet we're seeing a rapid growth in not only the distribution of movie and game trailers but also a progression in terms of how they're shot and marketed.

A World Without Trailers

Imagine it: you go to a movie theater to see what's playing. "Avatar" is the name of the movie. It's playing in 15 minutes and the poster shows a blue alien on it. And that's about it. That's all you know.

This is a world without trailers, and along with that, there are no TV spots or any other visual marketing aside from posters to let you know what to expect. If ever there was such an important marketing tool that simply gets overlooked time and time again, it's the movie trailer.

Red Dead Redemption

The original Assassins Creed trailer was the only video game trailer that ever gave me goosebumps. It was the only one to present me with an amazing character in a wide open world and a time period that I was so eager to explore. Rockstar Games has reinstated that same feeling with this trailer for Red Dead Redemption. The goosebumps are back - this game looks amazing.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The last book in the Harry Potter series is being made into the last movie of the series, and what better way to commemorate the event then make the final movie TWO different movies? Can you say "cha-ching"? Read on to check out the teaser trailer.

Brooklyn's Finest

Brooklyn's Finest reminds me so much of Training Day - probably the result of both of the movies having the same director. My first reaction to this trailer was, "Holy shit, it's Wesley Snipes!" I haven't really seen him do anything great since 2004, but Brooklyn's Finest is looking like it's right up his alley.

A small update today...

Just a brief note to let you in on some of the work I'm doing behind the scenes on the blog...

Access to the Features section is going to be streamlined via the sidebar to make sure that articles are more accessible to viewers who are visiting for the first time. I want to make sure that if you're new to the site it's easy enough to find the beginning of these featured articles. The same goes for if you've read the article before but you'd just like to re-read it over again. In short: easy access links via highly visible graphics on the sidebar.

Along those same lines, I'm working on an Index that will list all of the written articles on the site alphabetically. It'll be broken into two obvious categories: Movies and Video Games. Again, this way you'll be able to sort through one simple list to wade through what's been covered. This will also be featured more prominently with a graphic along the sidebar.

I'm also working on some other feature articles that I'm not quite ready to talk about just yet, but suffice it to say that it'll be unique content that I'm sure you'll enjoy reading.

Lastly, what would you like to see added to Trailer Society? Do you find anything confusing or would you like to see something changed? Head over to the Contribute section to fill out a form and send it on over to me. The goal is to make the blog better, so I appreciate the feedback!

Stay tuned tomorrow for looks at a gritty new crime drama's trailer as well as the latest Freeze Frame Friday!
